From 27abd048bffaac86d6d55478e39afbc9004ac826 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 Message-ID: <27abd048bffaac86d6d55478e39afbc9004ac826.1792023243.git.sam@gentoo.org> From: Kerin Millar Date: Thu, 15 Oct 2026 01:18:46 +0200 Subject: [PATCH] bintree: provide an empty default for USER_PATCHES As of the referenced commit, the USER_PATCHES key is required for a package index entry to be trusted. However, the index writer omits empty values, and no default is defined for the reader to restore the key. Consequently, portage extracts metadata from every binary package built without user patches, even if its mtime and size be unchanged. This manifested as a severe regression in eclean-pkg performance, though the impact is not confined to that utility. Define an empty default for USER_PATCHES so that otherwise valid index entries can be trusted.
